Dr. Rami Abdel-Rahem is the President of University of Petra (UOP). He received his PhD degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bayreuth in Germany in 2003, served as Dean of UOP’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2018, and held various positions at UOP, including: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Chair of the Chemistry Department, as well serving as Associate Professor at King Faisal University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdel-Rahem published 43 research papers, completed 20 research papers, and received 19 awards for his published research papers. In addition, he served as a chairman of 23 councils and committees during his academic career, including: Faculty of Arts and Sciences Council, Advisory Council of the Academic Development Center, and the First Disciplinary Council of Teaching Staff. Furthermore, Dr. Abdel-Rahem served as chairman of various committees, namely: Study Plans Committee, University Proficiency Examination Committee, Committee of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences Advisory Council, and the German ASIIN Accreditation Committee for the Chemistry Department. Dr. Abdel-Rahem enjoys extensive experience in education quality and has served as a rapporteur of the inclusion of UOP in the National Framework of Qualifications.
