Dr. Mayssoon Dashash is a Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University. She is also the Director of the Medical Education Program at the Syrian Virtual University and a Professor in the Arabic University of Science and Technology
Dr. Dashash completed her PhD from the University of Manchester, UK in 2005 and her membership from the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh (MFDS RCS), UK in 2008.
She obtained her specialization degree in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, UK in 2020. She was an honorary staff at the University of Manchester (2004-2008) and was the Director of the Directorate of Evaluation and Accreditation in the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education between 2011 and 2021.
She was also the founding General Director of the Centre of Measurement and Evaluation in Higher Education in Syria between 2013- 2021, where she supervised and led more than 165 national examinations during the crisis and participated in many international professional activities, steering committees, workshops and training courses.
She also severed as a consultant expert in training programs for Syrian diplomats at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates since 2018.
Dr. Dashash has a wide experience in higher education research and has more than 60 scientific research papers, and more than 10 chapters and books in medical education, curriculum planning, measurement and evaluation, e-learning, quality assurance and accreditation.
She has undertaken several research projects in the field of genetics, dentistry, immunology, public health, medical education and supervised postgraduate students in medical education Program in the Syrian Virtual University. She has also been awarded many prizes such as the Unilever Prize of the British Society of Dental Research in 2004, IADR travel award and the Scientific Research Prize of Damascus University in 2015.
